Did you know that the sun produces more energy in 1 hour than the entire human race does in an entire year? Did you know that we only have 60 years of fossil fuels left? So you may be asking “Why don't we use solar and lunar panels for energy?” Well scientists in Germany are studying ways to use the sun and the moon's energy to use. Some people are already “going green” but really that is not helping. Recently Honda released a new car that releases only water vapor. It is going to be given out to 100 people in California sometime in 2008. What is “Global Warming?” Well Global Warming is the process in which our o-zone layer is being destroyed by the carbon monoxide that is produced by cars.
There is a hole in the o-zone layer over Australia and Greenland. Greenland is just a huge glacier and since the temperature is increasing it is melting away. Over Australia, the hole can cause skin cancer and also sun burn so the temperature can get up to 110 degrees Fahrenheit! Scientists in Germany are working on ways to effectively use solar and lunar energy that may just power our cars and the future and reduce our energy bills to nothing!
Ways You Can “Go Green!”
- Buy a fuel efficient car and don't drive it short distances very often
- If you live close to work, walk!
- Buy Solar Panels to use the sun's energy efficiently and to reduce your energy use and your bill!
- Turn off un-used lights in your house
- Buy special lamps that use bulbs that conserve energy!
- Always use only the energy you need, and not more than you need!
