Americans First

Helping our fellow American and bettering our nation.

We are the only country on this globe and probably in history that does not help our own people but is generous with other nation's people. Do not get me wrong it is great to help the downtrodden in other nations but why ignore ours? Why do Americans but Americans second? True this nation has great opportunity and probably better opportunity than any other nation on this globe but that does not mean all of us are wealthy or even have that potential. Why have we as Americans forgotten our own people? We forget the family in New Orleans that is watching their home being demolished with no way of rebuilding it. We forget about the families in the ghettos of our big cities caught in between addiction and despair as they barely make it each day. We forget the ones drowning in debt. We forget the desperate that are outcast from their churches and have no where to go but evil to feed their families.

We have so many ways of helping the poor and no one cares to utilize the tools to get them help. We have the tools of unlimited wealth, the tools of supply, and so many others that it would take me years to write them all out. How do I know we have them? Watch the news and see how much aide goes off our boats to help people around the world. True we have welfare but that is only a band aide on an amputation.

What we need is good Americans to stand up and lift up their fellow man before they even think about helping other nations. I know this makes me sound nationalistic but just think of the potential impact. If all Americans were on a better playing field and able to lift each other up then what would that mean for the world when we were able to look beyond our borders?

Now I am not pretending to think this will be easy because many Americans are too greedy to think about anyone but themselves and the stubborn mentality in America of the poor being lazy, stupid, and addicts will be hard to break. But what if?

What if we looked at the American poor as someone that needs our help and guidance to make their lives better?

What if we lifted a hand to care for each other and thought of nothing else but how to make America better; not richer?

What if we ended this sin of materialism and used our wealth not for toys but rather for the betterment of our nation?

Amazing things can happen for America and then the world if we again put America and Americans first.

I appreciate your article. I have heard oftentimes that if you cannot help yourself, how can you help anyone else? In other words, if your ship is sinking you really cannot help another's from sinking. I understand your perspective.

Blessings.

Sincerely,

-Liane Schmidt.

Liane thank you for your comment.
To add to what you are saying. How much more can we do as a people if all of us are on a playing field to help the world. This again is not done through socialism but rather through the free market minus the greed and slothfulness. We have to give and work hard to make America truly great and not just a land of the rich and powerful.
