Is it Mother Nature’s wake up call? Should residents abandon the Southern States? Is it a call to stop the decimation in the Rain Forests of South America, find other energy sources than the extraction of oil from Mother Earth, accelerate the World’s efforts to eliminate Global Warming?
Is the annual decimation in the Southern States going from bad to worse? Is the headlong drive to raise corporate wealth from the rain forests causing an irreversible change in the Earth’s rainfall? Is the extraction of oil liable to cause greater friction between the earth’s plates?
Mother Nature freely dispenses havoc, killing residents, destroying entire cities, rendering millions homeless and we do nothing to prevent it? Is there an answer other than the submissive return of evacuated residents to pick up the pieces and rebuild their lives? Have we hit a brick wall?
Does it make sense for residents of vulnerable States to go on year in and year out living under the annual threat of Nature’s mayhem and devastation. Is it feasible for the government to step in every year to compensate victims of Nature’s fury? Can we afford it? Are residents willing to face these issues every year? Where are our priorities?
It is the same the World over, not just the United States but Mexico and China from earthquakes, Bangladesh from annual flood, Indonesia and Sri Lanka from tidal waves. All suffering great loss of life and property with no ability to stop it. Our World advanced through query, discovery and innovation to meet needs. Has that focus changed to a concentration purely on the spectacular?
Are the World’s scientists resigned to the conclusion that Mother Nature is too powerful and perhaps well beyond their capability to handle? We send probes into space, build super colliders and even clone ourselves but must we now accept a limit? Is that true?
Is there any research being conducted to discover how we can control the hurricanes and tornados that threaten us every year. Merely watching helplessly while they hover over us until finally unleashing their power with disastrous results? How long do we go on watching the threat and merely running away or submitting to its forces.
Long, long ago, mankind suffered other forms of oppression from warlords who periodically rode in and robbed the people of their wellbeing. It was accepted at that time until we developed the capability to withstand them. It was also normal in cannibal land to eat their neighbors. Have we met our match?
