Starting January 1, 2009 when you go to many of the stores you will need to bring your own grocery bag with you to bag your items. That is just what I was told when I went to Wal-Mart today. They had black bags for sell at the counter. I have mixed feelings on this.
I think that it will be great for the environment. We will be relieving all of our landfills. The less we put in the better. We also will be teaching the next generation to be greener. As with all change it will take some time. Many people will forget their bags and have to buy them from the company. Once again the bargain store will gain.
I think that the first couple of months they should give the environmentally friendly bags away. This will encourage people to bring them back each time and alleviate some extra spending in these hard economic times.
Our government has stepped in to help us fix our country. Do we need them to tell us how to keep our land the land of the free. Apparently yes we do. We are running America into the ground. I am not one of the environmentalist, yet I am leaning towards there extreme way of thinking. We need change and if this is what it takes then all of us need to do our part.
I guess I will be buying my bags the next time I go to the store.
