Five Ways to Impress Customers by Going Green

Some particular types of businesses lend themselves more fully to going green, or supporting the environment.

Here's how some businesses can impress environmentally conscious customers. Landscapers may use only natural fertilizers, farm markets can sell only organic produce, and clothing companies can use only natural fabrics for their clothing. With the current worries about the environment, going green is a very attractive prospect to many business customers.

Even if you have a more conventional type of business, you can still impress your customers by going green.

Recycled Paper Products

Using recycled paper products is a great way for a business to go green for the environment. Many recycled paper products have symbols or words right on them that tell that they are fashioned from consumer waste or another pre-used material. If this is not obvious, your business can erect a sign that proclaims that you use only recycled paper products. Customers will be happy that you are supporting the environment.

Minimal Packing Materials

Packing and packaging materials form a large percentage of landfill waste. Minimizing this, in all shipments and mailings from your company, will impress customers. It is a great idea to inform your customers of that as well by printing something like “We use minimum packaging to reduce landfill waste.” Going green by using less packing materials is a good idea.

An End to Junk Mail

Junk mail is another big waste of natural resources and landfill space. Putting an end to junk mail by sending only electronic letters is a good idea that is sure to impress your customers.

Paperless Faxing

There are several internet based systems that allow you to send faxes through email servers instead of a fax machine. This will cut down on paper waste and usage greatly. This method of going green is sure to impress customers who do not want large amounts of wasted paper.

Alternative Energy Sources

The ultimate way to go green in your business is through the use of alternate energy sources. Solar and wind power are two great examples of this. You can also use alternate energy powered company cars. Letting your customers know that a certain amount of their money is going straight toward reducing oil consumption is a good idea.

While your customers are sure to be impressed that your business has such a dedication to the environment, it should not be your only reason for going green. Businesses should do more to help protect the environment from the horrors of global warming and pollution. Impressing customers is a great side effect.
