Global Warming: It's All Over the Place

You think you can make a difference for Mother Earth? I believe you can.

Articles about global warming is spreading like wild fire in the internet and other media outlets. I've seen this from social networking sites, to local news and even from our local church. News about global warming is just all over the place. It is really alarming. I have hear a sample of their campaign here.

I've heard about it the time when news about the ozone layer depletion spread like wild fire too. Come to think of it, that was ten long years ago! Now that a more rampant warning about it is here, this is no joke at all, nor it's fictional -- about some smaller country's going to be erased on the map.

On a personal basis, I would agree to the points the article stated about the effects of global warming to the world as whole (rising of the sea level and extreme temperature (changes)). Last year, I personally observed that during the cold months of December-January, here in the Philippines, I experienced warm days and nights when it's supposed to be cold or chilly. And during the warm months of March-April, instead of experiencing the typical summer atmoshpere, we get to have downpour of rains. They call this phenomena El Niño -- A climatic phenomenon occurring irregularly, but generally every 3 to 5 years. The phenomenon involves seasonal changes in the direction of the tropical winds over the Pacific and abnormally warm surface ocean temperatures.

These things - melting of Atlantic glaciers; I never imagined it to be true. I always see it as something like a fictional story concucted from a very imaginative mind. But here it is! I personally witnessed the rising of water level due to the glacier's melting. Since we live near a body of salt water, I saw how the wave's boundary changes its distance from our house. When I was young, around 5-6 years old, I still remember how we could run miles just to reach the sea/beach. But now, when there's a high tide or even a simple storm, the wave would sometimes reach the boundary of our house. Can you imagine the difference? That is why we are planning to move some place higher.

I'm not sure if we still have plenty of time to save our Mother Earth, but one thing I'm sure of -- I want to help. That is why I am asking each and everyone of you to join their virtual march campaign. Let everybody know the gravity of the situation. Let us be informed and act accordingly. I still live to experience the suffering of our Mother Earth and I will live to minimize her suffering. It's sad to think that it may be too late, but I'm just hoping it's not. We all are affected by Global Warming, that is why, we have to help stop or atleast minimize it in any way. Join the virtual march!(http://www.stopglobalwarming.org/sgw_join.asp) Stop Global Warming!

I do discuss this with my masteral students Jhenz. I will write about this too. Nowadays it's laden with controversy because not everybody is convinced there is really global warming.

@Patz: Yes, that is true. Not all people are convinced about global warming.

@nobert: it's a good thing we all are concerned about our world. :D
