Are we going ahead with advances in technology or are we going back? This question may sound silly to some but think again. Are we moving forward or backward? Every advance in technology is changing our lives dramatically. But did you ever thought that as technology takes a big step ahead, it also takes a bigger step back. Every new invention is making us go back. What seems to us a advance is taking mankind a step back to past. We will soon be what we were a million years ago if we do not go green.
For example, when diesel engine was invented, it seemed that it would make our life comfortable but all it did to most of us was adding tension of oil prices. Middle class is the only sufferer. Rich are getting richer, poor are getting poorer. Rich people have their riches, poor have poverty. Rich do not worry of prices, they earn more every second, poor need not worry of petrol and diesel, they do not have anything related to these "pricey" things. Left in between is common man. With prices of petrol and diesel doubling many times faster than salary, he is tensed. Soon, when fuel on earth will end, we will be looking for horses. Now, that is what I meant by going back to past.
But the question is, " What have we done to Mother Nature? " We have done nothing but destruction. Look around you, how much has the environment changed in last decade. We had pure air to breathe then. But now, we have some additional free gases that are capable of sending us straight to God. Who did this all? Still thinking? I will tell you the answer, You! You have done it all. Did you care to save water? Did you try to save electricity? I am sure 90% will give a big no. I am not going to tell you about some magic wand which will help you to save resources. What I will tell you is to return to the basics. How many times have read " Switch off fan and lights when leaving the room " and forgot? Next time, give such notes a serious look and act wisely.
Every new technology uses petrol and diesel directly or indirectly. Even clothes you are wearing have a bit of petrol/diesel costs with them. This is not rubbish, but did your clothes got out of factory riding on air? No, they reached the shops in large trucks. And these trucks do not run on water! They drink diesel. Seems negligible to you? These negligible costs when added account for millions of gallons of fuel. To save fuel, I am not asking to stop wearing clothes, that would be plain foolishness. But I ask to make small efforts to conserve fuel. Next time you go to nearest mall for shopping, consider going by foot or using public transport. That will save a bit of fuel. These bits will result in to large savings.
This is our last chance to go green. If we do not do it now, we will soon be like dinosaurs, extinct. Choice is yours, contribute to continue as humans or be Dinosaur.
