Hot or Not

A reflection on the future of our world. Will science fix all the environmental destruction humans have caused?

It's getting hotter, it's not getting hotter, hot, cold, hot, cold, the bombardment of information on global warming plus the skepticism inundates every aspect of our lives. Even if global warming turns out to be a monster under our bed should we not confront the cause of that fear? If science could solve all the problems we have created, should we continue on this path? A teenager found a way to decompose plastic bags in three months! Styrofoam can now be recycled. Paint is available that cleans the air. With all this great innovation what will our future look like, a treeless well-painted world? Green science is good but as technology blazes over our environmental problems we need to make sure we freeze any further devastation. While taking one step forward we need to take a few steps back. We have problems that can be solved by science and new technology, but we have problems that can be prevented and solved by simplifying, stopping, not needing, not wanting, reverting, and going back. If global warming is a myth, is this any way to live?
