Nuclear Power, Climate Change, and the Need for Safer Fuels

Why is nuclear power not a good alternative fuel source? History has shown it is too unpredictable.

According to the History channel and other various sources, there was an accident involving an experimental sodium nuclear reactor in 1959 at the Santa Susana Field Laboratory in California. It was hidden by California officials. I have come to believe that accidents such as this and the one at Chernobyl are responsible for much of today's climate irregularities.

Accidents such as these should not be hidden from the public, they affect people on a global level years after the fact. In a world seeking different, more efficient fuel sources nuclear power has been discussed regularly as a "viable option" however, nuclear power and the effects thereof I believe are far too unpredictable.

Due to the risk factors of nuclear power I do not see it as a safe or viable alternative energy source.

I believe we need to think about and seek out natural fuel sources instead. If we used nuclear power we'd be putting ourselves in danger and possibly sowing the seeds for future disaster.

Human kind saw the destructive power of nuclear energy at Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II. Did that not switch any lights on in people's minds that possibly nuclear power needed to be abandoned for safer alternatives?

It sickens and saddens me that human kind has done so much damage to the home we were blessed with. Why are humans so prone toward destruction?

I think we need to think more, but not just think, we need to apply responsibility and wisdom to our decisions.

Food for thought.

A good deal to chew on as well! I'm not an advocate for nuclear power as I believe there are other sources with less chance of destruction to our planet. Nice article!
