The ARM (Algae Reproduction Machine) is truly amazing and resourceful because its work is not accomplished by the components of the machine, but by the algae inside. Algae are cheap to acquire, and are very efficient at removing toxic materials from the air and water. One acre of algae can absorb up to 5000 tons of toxic materials every year. Also, natural disasters will not destroy this machine because it will be constructed out of strong materials such as polycarbonate. The efficiency of this technology will make up for its environmentally unfriendly construction.
Present Technology
Recently, the green and slimy plant called alga has been discovered to be able to absorb mass amounts of carbon dioxide. Each acre of algae is able to withdraw up to 5000 tons of toxic materials out of the air each year. Algae are also known as one of the fastest growing plants in the world. The withdrawal of the carbon dioxide from the air will happen while the algae is growing, and once they have fully grown, the algae can be used for fertilizer, animal feed, biomass, and fuels such as bio-diesel. History
Up to a billion years ago, colonies of the small plant called alga started to grow around the world. Then, starting from as early as 2700 B.C., humans came across this green slimy plant, and they added it into their daily lives. In some places, it has been used as medicine and traditional food, whereas in others it has been used as charms and clothing.. As you can see, algae have been a visible part of human's life for a long time. It has benefited humans in many different ways in the past, and may come into our benefit again.
Future Technology
Just imagine a great, glistening box, being lowered slowly into the ground. It is indestructible, powerful, and may possibly be the only solution in stopping a complete extinction of the human race. Little dots of green mark the internal surface of this amazing machine. These dots are simple, basic and cheap, but extremely effective. They have been enhanced with advanced technology, are able to recycle the worlds polluted air into pure oxygen in mass amounts. This is the Algae Reproduction Machine. As the title says, it will reproduce algae with special nutrients inside the machine, which will be made of the world's strongest material: polycarbonate. The polycarbonate casing will protect this bio-mechanical machine from any disaster, natural and man-made. The algae inside will be nearly emptied every few weeks, and will then be used as fertilizer, animal feed, and biomass. With the mixed power of indestructibility and extreme efficiency, the Earth will be cured from Global Warming in only a few years.
Breakthroughs
Many breakthroughs will have to be made to allow the existence of this bio-mechanical machine. Such discoveries include special nutrients to allow algae to grow faster, and further research on the molecule polycarbonate. We will need a mass amount of these materials for each machine. The polycarbonate will be used for the walls of the machine, and the special nutrients will be fed to the algae to grow more efficiently. If done right, these breakthroughs will allow an environment saving super machine to be born.
Consequences
However, even with all the advantages of its creation, the ARM will have some disadvantages. An example would include an enormous loss of government money if the ARM does not work or does not work flawlessly. There would be a small chance that the special nutrients will mutate the algae into useless/harmful mutant algae that could spread a disease. But, even with all the money going into researching and manufacturing this machine, the efficiency and impact of it will definitely make up for considerably.
