After watching an episode of Oprah concerning Predators on the Internet I was so sick in the stomach and so upset. For this to have been allowed to get so out of control is alarming in itself. As I'm writing this knowing that there is even one baby, child or teenager being raped or molested at this moment is clearly evil and sickening. Oprah showed a map showing red circles indicating where the predators are. The map of the United States was marked up with red dots all over it. (If you go to Oprah.com you will see the map). The authorities do not have enough funds or manpower to raid these houses that's how many there are. She talked about a baby being raped and children sleeping over a friend's house with the father drugging the girl's drinks and then proceeding to molest them and to tape it, it's just horrible! The poor girls were never aware of what was going on, in fact they actually felt before all this happened that he was like a second Father to them.
For those who want to help there is a Bill in Congress waiting to be signed called the "1738 -Protect our Children Act". This is for funding for five (5) years for law enforcement, for high tech computer software and mandating that a child being rescued would be the top priority of the law enforcement. If you go to Oprah.com you can submit a letter to your state Senator to make sure the bill is signed before Congress goes to Recess on September 26, 2008. There is a sample letter in which all you have to do is sign it or you can add your own comments and then submit the letter.
Please we need to Protect our Children because they don't have the power but we do!
