Priorities, Sacrifice, and the Significance of Choices

Amazing how one significant change can affect a person's entire life, for better or worse, it's all in our choices.

In America we take so much for granted, America is spoiled that is undisputed.

My question is why do so many in America complain about not being able to afford the latest luxuries when there are people in other countries such as Bangladesh,Nigeria and many others who struggle just to afford the necessities?

America, this is a call to the nation as a whole, quit whining about not being able to afford that $500 XBox or the fastest sports car on the road. Wake up people, there are far more important causes to be addressed than the fanciest computer or latest gadget.

Instead of going out and blowing $30,000 on a boat, invest that money into helping others. Whether it is at home or overseas, every little bit helps. As I have stated before, greed and self-indulgence is in no way productive. You want to see places and people grow and flourish? Give.

Giving is one of the greatest ways to show kindness. Give cheerfully and it will be more rewarding than any materialistic wealth you may attain could ever be. Materialistic wealth cannot buy happiness. Self-indulgence and excess leads many to misery.

There was a story once of an attorney, he worked and slaved his life away to make his fortune.

Starting out, before he let his career overshadow his other priorities, he had a wonderful life, family, friends etc.

One day though, he came home and found his house empty. At the bottom of the staircase he found a letter and all it said were 4 little words "Giving,Time,Love, family."

He realized then that in his blind pursuit of material wealth, he had neglected what was really important, and he knew then that without a firm foundation everything else was in vain. From then on, the attorney took the words of that short but profound note to heart.

He began making time for others,Giving more of himself and his time, he shared Love and kindness with all who he met. In doing that, he found greater fulfillment than he had during his entire career driven life. In the years that followed, He and his wife reconciled, his home was never lonely or empty but instead was teaming with life.

Great article! It expresses a common truth about society which we all so learn, discover, and understand.
