Stop Calling Me the "N" Word

On racism in America.

The term “N” I remember hearing often as a child. White kids in my neighborhood use to refer to me as an “N” whenever things went wrong.

First of all the kids in the neighborhood new that calling me the “N” Word would invoke rage from me. I remember swelling up with anger and being hurt, always preparing to fight if necessary.

Today things have changed the “N” word has become so common amongst our youth. While growing up the “N” word was used when describing an African American.

I ask you young brothers and sisters both black and white stop calling each other the “N” word because you continue to hurt your parents and grandparents who have been caused great pain from the use of he “N” word.

When you use the “N” word you shatter and destroy relationships that have taken many years to rebuild. People feel that there is nothing wrong and believe its ok for everyone to use the “N” word. African Americans have been called the “N” word as far back as the beginning of slavery. Our people both black and white have worked hard to change the attitudes of many people in this country. Please realize our struggle by thinking hard before you call someone the “N” word.
