The wind power industry’s growth has been severely stunted due to the difficulty of getting through planning permission stage, which takes years and is not helped by the fact that there are many objections against turbines.
Analysts say that Britain needs to install much more wind power very quickly if it is to get anywhere near renewable energy targets.
In other words there is a big problem! It is simply ridiculous that a huge wind farm is denied permission because it would endanger some wildlife, if we don’t get our renewable energy sources sorted soon the wildlife won’t be able to survive anyway because of changes in climate and weather!
So what should Britain do? In my opinion the British government should pass laws granting any renewable energy developments a fast route through planning. The government should also make it easier for planning applications to achieve permission for renewable energy projects. The government needs to invest much more heavily in renewable energy. Britain needs to start putting the environment first! Global warming is a big problem that needs to be addressed, how long will it take for the government to come to terms with how serious this issue really is?
But it isn’t just the government’s problem, it’s ours as well! So what can you do to make a difference? Well you could install a small wind turbine in your garden, it would most likely produce enough electricity for your house and some extra which you can sell onto energy companies; it’s actually quite a good investment: No more electricity bills and the opportunity to make some money. Or you could get a few solar panels installed on your roof! One good thing the government does is provide grants for personal solar panels and wind turbines! There are plenty of things you can do to save energy and reduce your carbon emissions so get a move on before we all die!
Let’s hope the government and the rest of the world comes to terms with climate change and start acting effectively pretty quick! We have a beautiful planet; let’s not destroy it but protect and cherish it instead! Hope you enjoyed the read! Green is good!
