Advertising is to make us want a product that we don't really need, and buy it. I generally agree with this statement because it is the advertisers' job to make their product look good, even if it isn't.
I have never bought something I didn't need because of advertising, but I can see why some people have. Particularly on TV, advertisers make their adverts as eye catching and interesting as possible. They use techniques such as bright colours and catchy slogans, and the advert is always kept short, snappy and interesting.
It is the advertisers' job to persuade you to buy their products. They choose many different styles of advertising to try to persuade you to do this, but it is up to us to be aware of their persuasive techniques and not be manipulated by them.
I agree with the statement, “Advertising is to make us want things that we don't need”, because it is the advertisers' job to make you want their product, even if you don't really need it.
IF YOU DON'T NEED IT, DON'T HAVE IT!
DON'T BE DRAWN IN BY ADVERTS!
