Are You Burned Out? |

A brief look at signs of burnout and ways to protect yourself. |
- •Work is no fun anymore
- •Work and home duties feel like a burden
- •Excessive irritability, rudeness to staff, clients, colleagues and family, increasing money focus
- •Poor sleep, poor concentration, low energy, headaches, detachment
- •Escapist behaviors, substance abuse
- •Poor self-care habits, wanting to quit
Protect Yourself- •Strong sense of self esteem and purpose
- •Good social support system
- •Use humor as a coping skill
- •Take good care of yourself
- •Know when to say no
- •Don't take yourself or life too seriously
- •Develop a broad group of activities and interests outside of work
- •Use Diversional activities - television, reading, hobbies, exercise, music, vacations, napping, soothing bath, shopping (none to excess)
- •Use Relaxation techniques - progressive relaxation, biofeedback, creative visualization, yoga
- •Make Behavior changes - improving communication skills, expressing feelings, developing assertiveness skills, managing time and money more effectively, reducing external pressures
