Beauty: Seeing With Your Heart

See with your heart, not just your eyes.

When you look in the mirror what do you see? Is your self-esteem low? In a world where many are obsessed with image, it is often hard not to feel alienated if you are slightly different.

From my point of view, our differences are what make us unique. We are all uniquely fashioned with our own perceptions, thoughts, and free will. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as the old saying goes. While you may like the carnation, someone else may like the rose.

I think of each individual as someone would a flower. Each flower has its own beauteous qualities. Not only that, but beauty isn't just about what we can see on the outside. True beauty radiates from the heart.

The next time you feel like degrading yourself or someone else due to low self esteem, stop and think for a minute. Take time to look at more than just the surface. The media is always bombarding us all with its perceptions and standards of beauty. Many people, especially young people are often heavily influenced by magazines and television.

My advice, If something is beautiful to you, don't worry what other people say. Beauty is different to everyone, we should be able to express our appreciation of what we think is beautiful without being ridiculed or being put down.

To those who would read this, I ask you not to be vain or shallow, instead I ask every individual to view beauty from the heart, you may find something you overlooked before.

Dear A.writer,

Very beautiful, thoughtful piece. Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder. One person can be the most beautiful person in the world to another depending on how he or she sees the person.

Best wishes.

Sincerely,

-Liane Schmidt.
