Bus and Subway Similarities and Differences

Here's a list of do's and don'ts for bus behavior.

Similarities:

  1. Have your bus pass or exact change ready for the driver when you get on.
  2. Wait for people to step off before trying to get on the bus.
  3. Don't use seats for your backpack or packages if the bus is crowded. Keep them on your lap.
  4. Offer your seat to someone who might have more difficulty standing than you.
  5. Take care that your backpack doesn't swing around hitting people behind you.
  6. Don't horse around at the bus stop. Wait quietly.

Differences:

  1. People waiting for a bus tend to queue up. That means they from a line. If there's a line, get in it, and wait you turn to get on.
  2. If all the seats are taken, move to the back of the bus to stand. This will make room for others.
