Easier Done Than Said

Do you think things are easier said than done? Sometimes it is just the opposite.

Many of us have big dreams and ambitions. But most of the time, we only talk about our plans. How many of us had really embarked on the plans in our minds? When you are reading this article, can you recall what your childhood dreams were? Now look at yourself, how far away are you from your dreams? So many times we don't do what we want to. So many times we forget our dreams. And so many times we said that “it is easier said than done”.

Behavior Changes Attitude

When it comes to behaviors and attitudes, which do you think is more influential? You may have thought that our attitudes are difficult to be altered. But that is a misconception. In fact, it is our behavior that is shaping our attitude. Very often, we started off very optimistic with our dreams. But there is always this fear of failure in our mind. We always like to seek advices on whether the plans would work. When people tell you that your goals are realistic, you don't really believe in them. And it only requires one person to say that your goals are unreachable, to get your dreams shattered.

When you are asking around for advices, you are actually showing doubts with your plans. Of course it would be good to ask advices. But ask advices on how to make your plans work and not advices on whether your plan would work. The former is a positive behavior and the latter is a negative one. Your behavior will then change your attitude. If you started off in a negative manner, your attitude towards your plan will become negative. And that is when fear takes control and you forget about your dreams.

There is a reason why behavior changes attitude. People usually seek to justify what they do. Once they had done an action, they will try to justify it. It is just like when you had committed your efforts onto something, you will often find reasons to justify it. So when you have a dream to fulfill, try it out, and your initial commitments will propel you forward. Let your positive behaviors shape your attitude.

Plan But Don't Overplan

It is always good to plan ahead, but sometimes over-planning deters you from starting your dreams. When you over-plan, you will always find potential dangers that will thwart your plans. There will be a lot of “what if”. What if there is a financial crisis when I start my business? What if I fail and lose everything? You will begin to cast doubts on your plan again. The really brainy and intelligent people don't succeed. It is those bold and daring people, who dare to take calculated risks, which succeeds big time.

Very often, we plan and find potential roadblocks or obstacles. Those roadblocks then become too intimidating for us to proceed with our plans. Most of the time we begin to underestimate our abilities and we got beaten by our fears once again. How many times had you fear that your plans don't work, but it actually worked out pretty well when you do it? Sometimes, roadblocks are just removed automatically when you get things started.

Start Now

Just start doing things, a step at a time, to reach your goals. You will never reach your target if you don't even start. We live our life just once; why not make it more meaningful by trying hard for your dreams. Even when you fail, you know you had tried hard enough and you will not live to regret it. And trust me, once you take your first step, your mindset will change completely and you will just keep trying till the day you succeed. And when you start to do it, you will realize that many things are often easier done than said.
