Easy Ways to Go "Green" and Help the Environment

What's stopping you?

Change your cleaning habits

Use green cleaners, they have less chemicals in them so they are also safer for your hands and lungs! You can make your own green cleaner by using 1/2 cup vinegar and 8 cups water. This vinegar solution is great for cleaning windows, mirrors, counter tops, and other surfaces! You can also use baking soda to clean tough grease off your stove. Baking soda will also remove juice or Kool-Aid stains from your counter tops!

Replace your Appliances

Replace your old appliances with more effecient appliances! Make sure your new appliances have the energy star, this means they use less energy than regular appliances!

Replace your lightbulbs

Replacing your old lightbulbs with ones that use low energy saves you lots on your electric bill and helps the environment by reducing CO2 emissions by up to 80%!

Wash with cold water

When it's possible instead of using hot water to wash your clothes, switch to using cold! Tide even has laundry soap made for cold water! Cold water cleans your clothes just as well as hot water and lowers your electric/gas bill as well!

Eating Organic Foods

Organic farmers help rebuild soil and do not put harmful chemicals into the air, water, or ground!

Recycle

Recycling pretty much speaks for itself!

Don't litter

Littering isn't polite to anyone, and it isn't helpful to the environment! It makes our planet look dirty, it's not that hard to find a garbage can to throw your trash away! Please don't litter!

Drive a Hybrid

If you can't/dont' want to drive a hybrid car there are many ways you can reduce the amount of gas you use! Carpooling, public transportation, walking, riding a bike, etc.

Water

Install water saving shower heads, collect rain water for gardening, and turn off the water while brushing your teeth! Filtering water so that when it comes to us it's clean puts out emissions so the less water you use the less emissions are in the air!

Clothing

Did you know that cotton is one of the heaviest sprayed plants out there! By switching to organic cotton, hemp, flax, or bamboo clothing you are keeping yourself away from the chemicals as well as taking a stand against putting chemicals into our environment!
