Be Comfortable with Not Knowing
You must trust life. As far fetched and scary as that may sound, it's completely necessary if you want to live a life of peace. You know everything that you need to know at any given moment. If you feel that you don't know something or you don't know enough about something, then you don't need to know it at that moment. Things will be revealed to you at the proper time. In the mean time, trust the power within yourself to do what you need to do.
Be Aware and Alert to What Is Going On Around You. Surprises and Miracles Happen Everyday, Everywhere, All the Time.
A chance conversation with a stranger can open the door to a new opportunity. Simply smiling or saying "good morning" to a person can open a door for you or for that person. Noticing a lovely flower bed during your routine morning drive can inspire you to do something for someone. That your body knows when to inhale and exhale is miraculous. Life is a miracle. You are life so that means that you are a miracle. Acknowledge and celebrate the miracles around you and within you.
Give Others the Space to Be Themselves.
People need space to grow and develop. Imagine keeping a newborn baby in a crib until she was eighteen years old. Ridiculous isn't it? She would be way too big and developed for that crib. Sometimes we do this to each other. We have nice neat boxes that we like to keep each other in. But the truth is that everyone is constantly evolving: physically, intellectually, and spiritually. It's a natural and necessary process for survival. The worse thing that we can do to each other is inhibit each other's growth. Always be willing to give somebody the time and the space that they need to evolve. Live without attachments. Nothing stays the same forever. Change is good.
Cultivate and Nourish the Love and Peace Within Yourself So That You May Share It Freely With Others.
You should always be your number one priority. If you are not well, you will not be able to take care of others. Your illness or troubles will then begin to infect those around you, both physically and emotionally. Therefore it is imperative that you take care of your physical health as well as your emotional health. Do things for yourself that make your feel loved and at peace. A warm bath with candles and music, a walk along the beach, meditation; do whatever brings you in touch with your center. Set aside time everyday to be alone with yourself. Celebrate the greatness of you, the beauty of you, and the life within you. You can't give what you don't have. You can't give love if you don't have love inside you. You can't give peace if you don't have peace inside you. If you squeeze an orange, orange juice will come out. If you squeeze a bitter person, bitterness will come out. If you squeeze a lovable person, love will come out. But in order to have it, you must cultivate it.
Be Your Best Self At Any Given Moment
Always be an instrument of love and peace. Look your best. Feel your best. Others will gravitate toward you and not quite know why they gravitate toward you.
Look Not For What Others Can Do For You, But Rather What You Can Do For Others
This is of course a variation of a very famous John F. Kennedy quote. The breadth and depth of this quote is amazing. If you approach people or situations while asking the question, "what can I do for them?" as opposed to "what can I get out of them?" the energy that you bring shifts from something weak and draining to something strong and empowering. Always look for ways to be a blessing instead of looking for ways to be blessed.
Be Inspired and Be an Inspiration
Be open to inspiration. You can be inspired by anything: a quote, a tree, a kind word, a song, colors, sounds, the list is endless. Really take heart and notice the way you feel when you see or hear or experience things. Pass on the good feelings and learn from the bad feelings. Be inspired to live your best life and inspire others to live their best lives.
There Are No Coincidences In Life. Everything that Happens is Part of a Bigger Plan.
Nothing, absolutely nothing that happens in life is a mistake. This is one of those miraculous things about life. Every person, event, situation, circumstance, everything serves a purpose. You never know how many people are being affected by your life. My all time favorite movie is It's A Wonderful Life. The main character, George Bailey, comes across difficult times and attempts to take his life by jumping off of a bridge. An angel comes to his rescue and then grants George the opportunity to experience what life would be like had George never been born. The experience was astonishing. People who George knew to be warm and friendly were now cold and bitter because George was not a part of their lives. There were people who were now dead because George was not there to assist in even in the smallest way of saving their lives. Upon experiencing life without his ever having been born, George was completely shocked at how many lives he had touched directly and indirectly. This is how it is with everybody. Your life, not matter how significant or insignificant you may feel it is, has touched people in ways that you never would have dreamed of.
All You Need is Within You. You Are Complete.
You came into this world by yourself. Even if you are a twin, only one of you came out of the birth canal at a time. Ultimately, you will leave this world by yourself. Each of us is complete. We have everything that we need get through whatever life may bring our way. We don't need anybody else to complete us. It is wonderful and healthy to have friends and companions and strong relationships. But your existence and identity and validity should not be based on anybody or anything. You alone are complete. All you ever need to do is look within yourself for the empowerment and wisdom to get through anything.
