Every single one of us has the potential to become successful. But why are we not doing justice to our potential? Here are five tips which can transform you from riches to rags.

You might have read a number of articles reiterating the things you have to do for becoming a millionaire. Some will have 10 tips while others 100. Well, after all those thoughts I could come up with only 5 and that too describing how NOT to become a billionaire. I am trying to see things from a negative point of view.
So, you might ask how different is this one from the former articles? Have you ever noticed how difficult it is to start a new habit? Some people can do that, but most of them cannot. For example, we all know that for a healthy body, we just need to wake up in the morning and go for jogging. But how many of us can start that new habit. Your mind will think of 100's of excuses to stop you from doing that. Why?
This is because most people get into a comfort zone in their life. Unless and until some event forces them out, they will never venture out of the comfort zone and search for newer horizons. What I am trying to deliver through this article is a list of things which common people do, which unknowingly drains their money, time, health and productivity whereby reducing their chances to become successful. I am trying to use the power of negative dialectics to deliver these messages.
Don't Change Unless Something Happens

Don't change even a bit. Don't change even if every now and then you get that strange feeling in your mind like “hey I can do better than this if I change this”. But that is when the chicken inside you tries to scare you (There is a chicken in every one of us). He always asks this question “what if something goes wrong?” That's right. You know that everything is going good without much problem. Then, why change it? The universe is designed in such a way that even if you change the minutest thing, it can have a big impact in the future. What you are doing now decides an even in the future. But it will make sense only when that event happens and when you think back.
Everyone is Like That. Why Should I Be different?

This is one of the most important rules you have to follow if you DON'T want to be a millionaire. Follow the crowd. Don't even think twice. Everyone want to be safe first and then successful. But in the frantic struggle to be safe and keep your family safe, you do things which are not in your core competencies. The result is that life becomes a big struggle for survival and nothing else. If you think about the people who made their way from rags to riches, you will notice that they never followed the crowd. They had faith in their god given talents and abilities and their whole activity revolved around their core competencies. All such billionaires developed a habit of thinking differently and seeing the demand and then concentrating their talents and hard work to supply for those demands.
Failure: The Thing You Should Fear Most

Fear Failure as failure can kill you. Go on, think about failing and all those sarcasms and ridicule which will follow you after your failure. Keep worrying about making mistake and procrastinate that bright idea which you have. When I was a kid, I was raised in a society where people thought of “securing” their life through a government job. If anyone says that they don't want to get into a government job they will see some acute angled eyebrows. So, pass mark was a must in all the subjects. I was afraid of failing. Then, one day, I failed. Needless to say, I had to suffer a lot. But then I realized that I can take a few more of those easily. It is not a big deal. From that day, I was not afraid of Failures (I have failed in more university exams than you can imagine) and Rejections (Rejected by a couple of girl friends). Because of that I came a long way and left the “crowd” way behind me and they all envy me now. You might be asking now “oh, so he is also a Billionaire?” Not yet. But I will reach there pretty soon.
Don't Learn Anything New, Be Stagnant As a Rock

In this world of exponential growth, it is a good idea to be inactive if you DON'T want to be rich and powerful. Knowledge has got such power to transform the most undervalued person to the epitome of success. So, stay away from it. If possible, try not to use or revise what you have already learned after spending thousands in college. Why because it has been scientifically proven that if you don't use some skill, you will eventually lose it. By learning I don't mean only college education. As you might rightly ask “why most of the top billionaires are college drop out”? I totally agree. I have also read that article about Bill gates and Steve jobs. But the thing to remember here is that they never stopped learning. They never stopped observing. They never stopped taking those feedbacks back with them and improving day by day until they did justice to their potential.
Dream Only When You Sleep

If you DON'T want to be a rich man, it is mandatory that you should not dream while you are awake. Don't even think about tomorrow. Think about today and think about survival only. Dreams are the most underestimated tools. A solid, deep rooted dream can act as a rocket fuel which will propel you in your way to success. Even if you dream don't dream vividly so that it will be only a normal day dreaming. A vivid dream split up into clear cut short term goal is the one thing which all the successful and rich people had in common. There is another key thing to mention here. You should totally believe that you WILL achieve whatever you are dreaming of no matter how so ever impossible it might seem. Believe me, once you achieve a couple of those short term goals, you will feel more confident and the dreams seem to be more achievable.
