How to Let Go of an Ugly Past

Every human being has skeletons in the closet. Here's how you can deviate attention from an ugly past.

Every human being has his or her own skeletons in the closet. Everyone of us has something in our past that we want to forget - abuse, broken family, career/education failure, ruined relationships.

We look for ways to erase them from our memory. Unfortunately, what has already happened can never be erased...only escaped from. Here is one thing that will help deviate attention from an ugly past:

To let go of an ugly past, say three simple words:

"Face the future."

Why?

When you face the future, the past is behind you.

(I got the inspiration from the popular Maori proverb, "Turn your face to the sun and the shadow falls behind you.")

True enough because if the past keeps us from moving forward, we should fight it by taking even just small steps forward until the past is so far away in our memory. Hence, we should live everyday with hopes of a great future ahead, and making good memories to replace the bad ones along the way.
