Here is a set of steps to setting a goal and attaining it:
- Get out a sheet of paper and write down your goal at the top.
- Make sure you goal is sensible! If it's something like "become a multi-millionaire by the age of 30" then you may want to lower your standards a bit.
- Decide what you will have to do each day to reach your goal. Write it down on your paper just a few lines from where you wrote down your goal. You can make it in any form that suits you. Maybe a check list or something like that. If you have a weight loss goal then you could make a menu plan and workout schedule for each week. Just make a game plan!
- Have somewhere you can keep some sort of journal. Write down how you improve each day and get closer to your goal. This can motivate you and show you how well or bad you are doing. If someone's goal is to become a better runner then maybe the sixth week of working to the goal they can look back and see how much better they are doing. Maybe they're not as tired after a long run or something. If someone happens to not be doing so good they could look back at their journal entries and decide what they need to do to step up their game.
- One of the most important steps is choosing a reward for when you reach you goal. Choose carefully though. Someone who has a goal to lose weight probably shouldn't reward themselves with pigging out at a buffet. Maybe an ice cream cone would be OK. Someone who wanted to improve their athletic performance could reward themselves with ice cream also. Just choose wisely. But you still want to make it something to look forward to. Write down the reward on your paper to look back on when you feel like giving up.
- Post your sheet of paper up somewhere you will see it everyday and remember your goal.
Good luck accomplishing your goal! Just always keep yourself motivated. You will feel great when you reach you goal.
