How to Tell Someone If They Smell Bad

Honestly speaking, I’m not the right person to tell you this because I also have a problem of telling the truth to my friends. I don’t want to upset them or even hurt them. As a matter of fact, I prefer to let other people inform them rather than myself.

However, everybody knows that your friend really smell. Sometimes, you get hurt as well when you heard other people talking behind your friend's back. So, the best way to solve the problem is to really tell her or him the truth.

Bromidrosis is the medical term use to described the condition of unpleasant body odours produce by excessive body sweating. Bad breath or halitosis is the number one smell that most people usually recognized. Those person experiencing this problem has also difficulty of realizing if they have bad breath or not. Frankly, I had bad experience about this. I never realized that I have bad breath in the morning until one of my crush or let's say the most person I liked gave me a mint gum to brush off the smell. I never felt so embarrassed in my whole life when he extended me those gum. Anyway, to make the story short. I was glad that he was so kind enough to just reached me the gum and never talked behind my back. At the instance he extended me the gum, there- I was so much aware that "I smell".

Sometimes, when you smell something you were confused of where the smell come from, either from the person behind your back, beside you, in front of you or maybe you. To find out the smell, you used the washroom or secluded places and smell yourself. Fortunately enough, you smell so good and you're confident that the smell is not yours.

The number one thing that you should remember is that you cared for your friend. You don't want her or him to get hurt by unpleasant feedbacks, so the best thing you can do is to tell the truth. Well, truth always hurts as a start but in the long run she or he will be grateful that you inform her or him. The truth will set her or him free. Free from unpleasant odours.

Don't be pretentious if you talk to her or him every time she or he open her or his mouth, you tried to hold your breath in order not to smell the air but too bad for you because you're struggling to catch your breath. Just tell her or him directly. If not, give her or him something to cure- this is not to offend her or him.

Be sure when you tell your friends, you didn't smell. Sometimes people who smell are the people who will always use a strong perfume and it just make it more worse.

I kinda turn my head, or move away from the bad smell, and not comfortable telling the truth..This is a good lesson to learn..

I have had this experience and the worst was my optomitrist a few years back. Needless to say I found someone else to check my eyes. I'm sure he didn't know but I couldn't tell him. It would have been a favor to him if I had because I'm sure he lost more patients than myself.

I have a manager that can make you sick with her breath. I don't know what to do. I try to sit as far away as I can. Thanks for an interesting article.

Great advice, Heart Stone!
A lot of truck drivers smell bad and some don't care...it's awful...they're smelled before they're seen...that's really bad!

This is good advice. You want to tell someone, but don't want to hurt their feelings. But just like you said, "just tell him or her directly." They may not even be aware that they have bad breath.
