So many times I've gone grocery shopping and there in the front section of the cart, lies a woman's purse - most often, wide open. Inside, you can see their wallets as well as other necessities. And where are the women? Down the aisle, far from their belongings. Many times, I've had to push their carts out of the way so that I could get at some items on the shelf. At no time, was there any kind of awareness from anyone of what was going on.
Why do they do this? Are they so sure of themselves that nothing will happen? Do they have this attitude of "It can't happen to me"? Or, are they just plain ignorant?
Maybe they don't want to carry their purses with them because it's such a burden. That it's too heavy, doesn't have shoulder straps, or that they can't stand having it hang off of them since it might wrinkle their clothing.
Whatever purse I happen to have at the time (and I only have two), I make sure that I only carry what I need so that it is not so much of a burden. I prefer the kind with a long enough strap so that I can hang it from my shoulder, laying it diagonally across my body. But if I bring my other purse with the shorter handles, I make sure I carry it at all times. Wrinkles? I don't worry about them. After all, what do you do when you get back in the car and put your seat belt on?
And never, never think that it can't happen to you! Why tempt fate? If someone did steal your wallet, or for that matter, your whole purse, you have no one to blame but yourself.
So please, think wisely. Make the right choice. You'll be glad you did.
