This week, I want to share a story with you about one of my friends whom I'll call Jazz. Jazz
came to me a while back, frustrated. He knew a little about manifesting and had very clear ideas about
what she wanted to have happen and even how it was to happen. ("Manifesting" is the idea that we can
make our dreams and wishes come true, using the power of the mind to make them a reality.) Jazz had
applied numerous manifesting techniques, but to no avail. In fact, she said that she felt that the more
she tried to make things happen, the more obstacles seemed to block her path.
Listening to Jazz, I knew immediately what was wrong; she had the right idea about working on
her dreams, but she was impeding an important part of the manifesting process. By trying to direct so
specifically how things would manifest, she was severely restricting how the Universe could fulfill her
requests.
To help Jazz get over this hurdle, I gave her an exercise. For one month, she was to continue visualizing
what she wanted, and then imagines her enjoying the final result. She was not, however, to visualize
or imagine how things would fall into place.
The next time I heard from Jazz, things were going well. She said that as soon as she had stopped
dictating how things would come to her, the manifestation floodgates had opened and her wishes and
dreams were coming her way. Interestingly, she said that nothing had happened in a way that she would
have imagined it.
When it comes to dreams, it is important to set the energy in motion, but then we need to leave it be. It
is the Universe that decides how things come out?
