If your answer in 1, 3 and 4 are yes, you behaved well! Behaving in the conversation is close to listening to it.
Your failure to listen well will cause you getting an incomplete message. If you do not listen well to instructions, it is possible to make a mistake. And if you do not listen well to a discussion you will have a less understanding in the topic. If you hear a stress, pitch and intonations by the speaker it can be a clue. Different intonations have different meanings together with its pitch, volume, and stress.
Listening has an important role in studying. When listening at the teacher, the student doesn't need to take note of everything. They just need to mentally note some important phrases, sentences, words and etc. By focusing your attention in the speaker, you can listen well. Listening is also important in a literary works like The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli. This literary work was a satire. This work by Machiavelli should not be look at in its face value. If you don't listen attentively and look at the face value of the story you will not understand the author's purpose.
