The importance of taking time to look inside you and spend quality alone time is essential to healing any deep wounds, traumas, and other such difficulties you have faced in your life.
While turning to others is helpful, sometimes when the things you have been through have been so tragic, turning to others can sometimes be more difficult as there are many people who simply cannot understand what you have been through; this is of course to no fault of theirs, but their lack of understanding can be hurtful when you are already hurting.
Taking time alone can allow you to re-learn many things that you did not see before. It gives you the opportunity to really step back and “access your surroundings” without the interference of anyone's perspective, but your own.

As they say, it is important to trust your own instincts; when you are surrounded by others, sometimes their perspective can cloud yours if you do not have a solid foundation of what your values and outlook in life are.
When you take the time to yourself, it is important to make sure that you try your very best to treat yourself as you would a best friend. If your path to “recovery” is taking a long time, what would you say to a best friend? You would tell them to take all the time they need. You would also remind them of the beauty in life and that things will get better.

Being alone in nature is extremely healing. For example, by simply taking the time to watch the wind blow through trees, softly tousling leaves and branches, you are engaging in an act that is a soothing to the soul. If you believe in God or a higher power, metaphorically it's a phenomenon that is like God softly passing His fingers through a child's hair in a parentally caring way. When you see a rainbow or a miraculous sunset it reminds you of the limitless beauty found within your own spirit. It is once again, like God or a higher power holding up a “mirror” to the beauty that lies within you.
Sometimes when others have told you that you are not who you know you are (i.e., put you down) turning to the infinite beauty of nature can help to restore the beauty within yourself. It is like a best friend telling you are beautiful, without words. We have all experienced something to that effect; where just being around a friend we know who thinks we are beautiful makes us feel beautiful again, reminds us of the beauty inside that we may have forgotten exists.

Remember, when some days are more difficult than others, you can always turn to the beauty in this world. There are angels in this world who will remind you that you are not alone. And, there are heroes who are leading the way to remind you that strength, courage, and character are the most important things in life.
Best Wishes,
Josey
