Seven Tips to Immediately Improve Your Mood

Some simple guidelines to practice every day. You'll find yourself happier than ever!

Summer is here! I know, most of you are probably in great moods now that the weather has turned. I know I am.

Still, today it is easy to get frustrated or worried or what have you, so I put together this list of things you can do every day to lighten your mood. If you make an effort, it really pays off TRUST ME. I have been happier than I've ever been before as of late.

So let's get started, shall we?

  1. Forget Regret

What is in the past is in the past. Leave it there. Be a forward thinker. You can't change what has already happened, but you can always improve upon the present by thinking about the future and all the great things you can do with it! The best part about the future is that it is limitless, it truly can be molded into whatever you want it to be.
  2. Eat Healthier

This may be a strange one for a list of things to keep happy, but trust me you'll see why when you try it. When you satisfy your hunger and KNOW you have made good choices about what you put in your body, you will feel proud. Your body knows you are being responsible and will reward you with positive thought processes.
  3. Practice Random Acts of Kindness

This is a great one. Send thank you letters, buy you're friends and family gifts for no reason, pay the toll for the car behind you, hold a door for a stranger, strike up conversation with someone you don't know, send a poem or piece of art to a random address from the phonebook without a return address or credit. You'll find that doing little things such as these will GREATLY boost your mood and spread good karma. People LOVE when others show they care about their happiness.
  4. Take a Breather

If you find yourself overcome with a negative emotion (awkwardness, worry, hatred, disappointment) count to five and ask yourself “In ten years, will this have any impact on my life? Will I even remember it?” If the answer is no, forget about those emotions and move on to the next GREAT part of your day.
  5. Don't Complain

Complaining and whining comes from a situation you don't like. Either you can do something about it or you can't. If you can do something about it, instead of complaining be proactive. If you cannot do anything about the situation, then move on to the next GREAT part of your day.
  6. Smile While Talking

When you are on the phone, smile to yourself. It will change your tone to an uplifting one.
  7. Be Thankful

Think of things you are thankful for or are happy you have access to. Have a roof over your head and a full stomach? Bingo buddy, you are already more lucky than the majority of the human population. That's something to smile about.
