Strength. What is it? What does it really mean? You can look it up in the dictionary and you might get a vague sense of the meaning, but really it's more than what we have been taught.
Think about yourself, when are you strong? When are you weak? Now for anyone of us we can find more weakness than we could possibly ever think to find strength. Why is that? We punish ourselves daily, when we are told we aren't doing something right, or when we feel physically ill, or maybe when you are told you aren't as good as the person next to you. STOP IT! Seems simple enough to read, but what does it really take? Look, for one I can't tell you what it takes for you to feel better about you. Your strength comes from you. There is a common word that if broken down we all would look at things differently, it's called self- esteem. Now what is that really? That is something you are responsible for.
Your well being, or self-esteem is all your own. Hence the self before esteem. So now that that shocker is out of the way. Don't feel small. It is a misconception and a mistake we have all made it majority of our lives. So now that we established where strength starts, lets look at how to keep it going. Do you ever wonder how soldiers can be given orders to practically deadly situations and still without hesitation they march forward into the unknown? Well it comes from the conditioning of the mind. Realizing that we are guilty of worrying about the wrong things. Why worry about what you can't do well? Focus on what you can do well.
Again I know this seems easier written then to actually do, but trust me it is how the most successful people in this world continue to be the most successful people in this world. Another way to put it is to focus on your strengths and allow someone else to focus on your weaknesses. Meaning if you are good at planning but horrible at execution, allow someone who is good at it to do it. See now it makes sense. Any team you have ever played on that was successful has worked the same way. And finally the best part, before you do this look at you and be honest with you.
Don't think about anything anyone else has ever told you. Just you. Look at what you are good at and only what your good at and focus on that. You will find that your strength and happiness will be one and the same.
