The Do's and Don’ts Guide to Handling Difficult Times in Life

Is there ever a time in your life in which you encounter troubling times and find it hard to face it? Did you ever wish that someone hand you a manual to give you ideas on how to deal with life the easy way? I will share with you possible ways which worked for me.

1) DO meditate

Meditation is the art of relaxing the body and quieting the mind. It is a simple and effective way to relieve stress. When you are feeling stressed or tensed, just find a comfortable place to relax and be at peace with yourself. It's been known that meditation has that soothing effect to the mind, body and soul. You can draw strength from this and can make you stronger. Also, it can create a positive environment for you.

2) DO think positively

When a person thinks positively, it merely means looking at the bright side of life's situations. The circumstances you face, the challenges that come your way, you view it by being optimistic. If you are feeling negative, you can change that around by thinking positive thoughts. Just by doing this, you change your world for the better. You will find yourself hopeful, happy, confident, etc. The negativity you encounter in life doesn't affect you greatly.

3) DO have a role model

A role model serves as a good example in which we can follow to enrich our lives. They can teach us certain things and let us view life in a different way. When you need direction in life, a role model can indeed get you there. It is important to choose the right one that can give you a positive influence. In order to learn from your role model, examine his or her life and apply the knowledge you've gained from them. A role model can inspire us and even help us create our own opportunities.

4) DO keep an open communication with others

When you keep an open communication with others, you are allowing the free flow of information from you to them and vice versa. It's a good way to know what's going on in each other's lives, to keep updated and even feel that sense of being connected. When hard times enter our life, do talk to others and listen by being unbiased. It can be a truly rewarding experience. You can get a new perspective in life, your options become visible, you get understanding and most of all companionship.

5) DO write in a journal

Writing in a journal is basically jotting down your thoughts, feelings, or anything that could help you in your situation. It can also reflect very much about what you want to change or to accept about your life. When you need an outlet for your emotions, do write down in your journal. What you can get out of this whole journal writing are to improve your problem solving skills and to increase your critical thinking skills. Reading your journal gives you an idea of how much you have progressed in your life and what else is lacking.

1) DON'T be afraid to search for emotional support

Just by being afraid it blocks an individual from moving forward. It can even probably cause one to be isolated. Everybody deserves emotional support from others. Giving yourself a chance to have what you want can make a difference in your life.

2) DON'T give up easily

Giving up doesn't guarantee that the quality of a person's life will improve. Unfortunately, it is a defeating mental attitude. It is necessary to think that a person deserves a better life and even if it means fighting every day just to get what you want.

3) DON'T put the blame on other people

It's easy blaming others for one's misfortune; however, doing this can only cause hard feelings. Life has its ups and down's or even twists. The best possible way to handle such a difficult situation is to accept the challenges in life and have the courage to face them.

4) DON'T focus on self-pity

Focusing on self-pity and let life passes, one by, can lead to nowhere. You have the ultimate power to decide which course your life will take. Just taking simple steps ultimately can defeat that negativity.

5) DON'T take shortcuts

Shortcuts are known as temporary solutions. It is not lasting, taking different approach can make the journey worthwhile. Taking the time to think, creating strategies, devising a plan and maintaining one's calm can get you further.

Life can be tough at times, but there is a guide map. The list which I provide does help in letting someone deal with life in an effective way. I do hope that after reading this article you can start to apply it in your life.
