Today, as I pondered my choices, I realized something about life. It's been a while now that I have been preaching and praising existentialism and subjective truth and things of that nature. I have pushed the idea of free will combined with a believe in a God in such a way that I have thoroughly convinced myself.
But as for others as I have said the choice is theirs. I think most of the time people get into such terrible situations and they do nothing but sit in the same shallow ground, believing there is nothing they can do to change their circumstance.
Here is my truth. I love life. I truly and honestly do. There are times that I detest most aspects of living but I realize that there is too much good in the world to allow myself the time to focus on the bad. And for what reason? So that I can feel anguished? So that I can feel compelled to feel less for myself and for others. No. There really is no reason. Feeling good is a choice. Everything is and it is our perspective.
So try this on for size. If you seem to be stuck in a rut and you feel like the situation is absolutely stagnant and stationary imagine this.
Imagine that life is just a wedgie and all you have to do is pick it.
Pick your career.
Pick your friends.
Pick your lovers.
Pick your hobbies.
Pick your battles.
Pick your faith.
Pick your inspiration.
Pick your passion.
Pick your authenticity.
Life is a wedgie and you can pick it or leave it the way it is. Regardless, you are in control. Do you move or do you grow accustomed to undesirable circumstances?
Oh how I love a good metaphor and how I love you.
