Tips for the Summer

Learn how to stay comfortable during these hot times.

To many people, summer is a wonderful time for going to the beach and vacations all around the world. To others like me, summer is that depressing time of sunburn, mosquitoes, odors, and more importantly, heat. Sometimes it is quite difficult to feel comfortable. So today, you are going to read a few tips on how to save energy during summer, enjoy your summer, and feel more comfortable during these hot times.

Read the Weather

The heat may be very unsafe if you go outside. Avoid going outside unless you are going inside a building when temperature reaches outrageous numbers.

Fans or Air Conditioners

Air Conditioners work way better than fans but it uses quite a bit of extra electricity. So, here is my tip. Use the A/C when the sun is bright out. During sunrise, sunset, and evening/night times, use a windows fan. Fans uses a lot less energy and sometimes it can get cooler than your average A/C.

Using the A/C a Lot Less

If you're going to be in a room for a while, try saving your air conditioner a bit. Run it for about an hour, then turn it off, close the door, and turn on the ceiling fan.

Still Hot in the House?

Basements tend to be cooler than the top of the house. Try doing what you need to do at the lowest rooms of your house. Then you can use ceiling fans or simple desk fans.

The Greenhouse Car

Think about this. Have you ever entered your car and it was so hot that you sometimes can't take it. Here are a few tips to avoid that. First, some cars have a vent windows or back windows that open slightly, leave those open (unless it rains) to allow some heat to be released. Also, open your windows by the slightest millimeter to allow a little more air. Not that far though, make sure your fingers can't slide through or you will have the risk of a stolen car.

Computers

All computers will emit heat somehow. To help fix the issue follow the following tips: Use the computer is a nice cool room. Turn off your computer and use a public one. Clean the inside of the computer and removing dust to help it run slower. (Help on cleaning your PC can be found here-http://www.ehow.com/how_3664_clean-computers-insides.html)

During the Night

Keep your skin slightly warm, mosquitoes like slightly warmer skin. An alternative to this is to get a sheet of fabric softener sheets, add water, and apply to skin to repel insects.

Outside

Sometimes it is way cooler outside than inside. So, be sure to stick your head outside a bit to check the breeze.
