Tips on How to Organize my Life More Everyday

Organization in one's life.

  1. Being organized is about being in control of your life and the things that take part of it
  2. The more organized you become the more you are able to think and feel better
  3. One of the hardest things to do is to maintain the habit of keeping things organized
  4. One must strive for consistency because this will lead to a more organized life
  5. If you spend at least 5-15 minutes a day organizing things, it can be helpful in decreasing amount of clutter
  6. Commit to a set time and schedule to follow in order to help you meet your goal of organizing
  7. Put your goal in writing and keep it near to have as a reminder when times get difficult
  8. Have a plan to focus on. Choose a space or area you want to work on and try to picture how you want it to look. Get to work as soon as you can.
  9. Use a planner, appointment book, or even a mental list to help you maintain organized
  10. Plan how you want to start organizing your room and/or area of interest. This makes the process a lot smoother.
  11. Try to have a target date or deadline to work towards having things done. This helps you to keep focused.
  12. If you are not able to meet your deadline, do not stress. Change your target date or make your goal a lot simpler to meet by set date.
  13. If you do not know where to start, try working organizing the small and simple things such as your current mail, paperwork, clothes etc
  14. When you have some extra time on your hands, start to catch up by organizing the things you have not looked at for a while
  15. Reward yourself for everything you get to organize, as praise is extremely important and motivating
  16. Organize one room at a time. Once you finish with one room in your home, move onto the next one.
  17. Work at your pace. There is no rush. Quality is always better then quantity.
  18. Schedule the next time you plan to organize something. This can help you keep focused on your goals and end result.
  19. Do only what you can as you should not push yourself in a way you mentally or physically become distressed
  20. Try making cleaning fun. It does not have to be work. It is how you see things.
  21. Learn to let things from the past go. If you have not used something for at least 6 months and probably will not be using it for another 6 months, get rid of it.
  22. Give things away or have a garage sale. If something cannot be used by someone else, throw it away.
  23. Be honest with yourself as you are deciding whether or not you should keep something
  24. Anything that has expired should be tossed
  25. Do not store paper that is not needed. Try not to keep receipts you no longer need. Usually no more than 7-90 days.
  26. Credit card receipts should be shredded once you receive your bill and have confirmed you were properly billed
  27. Use filing cabinets and folders as needed to help organize your paperwork
  28. Arrange your books in some sort of order for you and others to follow
  29. Balance your checkbook and keep your finances in order
  30. Set up automatic bill payments to help you keep track of bills and avoid late fees due to poor time management
  31. Have your bills e-mailed instead of mailed as it brings less paper into your home
  32. If you need help, ask a friend, family member or hire help. This can always help you to get the job done especially with some assistance.
  33. Try to take it one day at a time. Do what you can today, as tomorrow is another day.
  34. Start organizing your things as soon as you are done reading this information. Choose about 5-10 things to put away where they belong.
