The management at HMP Wakefield, Britain's most notorious prison have been allowing, even promoting, afro-Caribbean gang-culture to flourish on the wings, according to an inside source. Black prisoners, including murderers and rapists, are being allowed to wear black bandanas, like the prison gangs in America, for “cultural reasons”. Although there are only a handful of inmates registered as true Rastafarians, a previously unrecognised religion that promotes the use of cannabis, more than 30
ethnic minority inmates were given special dispensation to attend Haile Sellasi Day with a celebratory meal funded by the prison on the grounds of promoting “diversity awareness”

No white prisoners were invited to this celebration, so there was little in the way of diversity, our source alleges. These gangs, he says, spend little or no time addressing their offending behaviour, preferring instead to congregate on the sports field, exercise yard or down the gym imitating the black US gangs they idolise. Even the wing soccer teams are all-black squads as they further marginalise the majority white population.
On the "canteen list" where inmates choose their shopping for the week, 35% of the items cater for the ethnic minorities, whilst the minorities make up only 10% of the prison population. Vicious thugs like the
Morally brothers
and Mark Lawrence are regularly moved from wing to wing as a result of their constant bullying of weaker, older prisoners, yet the staff do nothing for fear of being labelled racists.
Recently, the Governor purchased a collection of 10 DVDs of black US comedians and 18 videos about Rastafarianism, although nothing was provided at the time for Christians, Jewish or any of the other more subscribed religions because no one seems to complain more about their rights than the afro/Caribbean elements of the prison. As a result of investigations like this one, the Governor has had to spend nearly £400 of taxpayers' money on other DVDs and videos to redress the balance.
