Caged:a Hardened Criminal's Only Place

The only place remorseless criminals deserve to be is caged, like the animals they have chosen to behave as.

I heard not too long ago about a man in Florida who, after being convicted of molestation has never served a day in jail. My question is, why is this? When lawmakers fail to protect it is not just a travesty of justice, but even worse is when the victim is a child. Children are our future, yet many children these days suffer from very adult traumas.

Unlike a washable tattoo that you can get in a Wal-mart vending machine, the scars these children face will never be fully healed. I cannot understand for the life of me why so many children fall victim. The adults of society are supposed to nurture and protect the next generation, not abuse them.

Dear Ones, Protect your children. Teach them that it is a strength, not a weakness, to ask for help.

Many children these days are taught that if one asks for help then there is some flaw in them.

This however is far from true, adults are supposed to be leaders, they are responsible for the child's healthy upbringing. There are too many absentee parents these days.

Children, especially if they are unloved at home, often seek it elsewhere, this is not always bad, if the person they're seeking Love and acceptance from actually genuinely cares. However, all too often, this does not turn out as the case, I see on the news regularly about another person being victimized. and this to me is absolutely wrong.

I think child molesters, abusers, and people such as these should be locked in prison.

Caged like the animals they have chosen to be, there is no room for people such as these in any civilized society.

An alarming rate of children have been sexually, physically or verbally abused, and many times the system fails them. It is a true tragedy.

John you are young and wise and you speak passionately from the heart. There is no doubt in my mind that you want the world to be a better place. I have read many of your articles and I see the sincerity that flows from the pages.

Sometimes, however, I feel that your passion blinds you. In this article my main concern is with the words you choose: “The only place remorseless criminals deserve to be is caged, like the animals they have chosen to behave as” and “I cannot understand for the life of me why so many children fall victim” and “The adults of society are supposed to nurture and protect the next generation, not abuse them”

I see a contradiction here, which – because of the loving and understanding person you give the impression you are – I feel would be worthwhile making comment on

Given that the phrase “for the life of me” is a general term, I still understand it in context as essentially saying: you have absolutely no idea why “so many children fall victim”. Your inability to understand why this is so is made clearer in the comments you make in reference to “remorseless criminals” choosing to behave like animals.

John, you seem to have forgotten that these adult criminals, with an ability to “choose”, were once children themselves. Do you really think they chose to be the way they are or is it perhaps that they are themselves, also innocent victims? I understand that they are now adults and as with any adult, there also comes the unquestionable responsibility to the children of today. But is the solution really to cage people up like animals? I mean, do you wish for the problem to be solved or do you just wish it to be hidden? Furthermore – and I’m not suggesting this is your personal opinion although I don’t think that there can be any doubt that it is of some – is the punishment, banishment of those who have committed heinous crimes merely something that makes us more comfortable because we know the law makers have enacted the revenge we wish for?

I understand that putting-people-away also makes us feel safer but is it really the solution to creating a better world.

I believe that the cause of crime in this world goes far beyond an individual choice and that there is an intrinsic responsibility we need to address but that we often overlook.

There are obviously more questions but I will leave that for further comment should there be any forthcoming.

The main point I would hope you could address John is if you can see in yourself the subtle difference you would make if you put in the effort to understand why “for the life of you” you can not understand certain things, instead of covering them with claims of people getting-what-they-deserve.

God – whatever our impression of God maybe – asks us to show love and be forgiving and I think we always need to ask ourselves; what can we do to follow this in our conscious hearts and minds.

With respect and love

thank you for commenting, and I understand where you are coming from as well,at the same time though, is there an actual solution to the problem? This question is the one I really wonder about. Caging a person like an animal because they commit heinous crimes may not be a real solution, but it is better than letting remorseless perpetrators walk away unscaithed while their victims are left to suffer.

Do you have any thoughts as to what more can be done to protect people from criminals? All feedback is appreciated and thank you again for taking time to comment

Thanks John, and I appreciate your thanks. I will share my thoughts... soon - I hope. Life right now is hectic, and I'm not always as fluent as I'd like to be - I would like to do it properly and go futher into what I was skimming over in my initial comments. Once again appreciated. Later...
