Like other places through out the world Canada has it fair share of violent gangs and so on. For many years bike gangs ran many parts of Canada until the early to late 90's when the biker wars started breaking out literally in every major city. When it was all said and done only a few clubs remained. Here's a list of five bike gangs that are still active in Canada.
Hell's Angels
The Hell's Angels is a motorcycle group formed in 1948 in Fontana, California. This bike gang is Canada's most powerful club with ties and club chapters all over the world. In the earlier 90's turf wars broke out between the Angels and rival bike gangs for control of drug territory which in the end left over 150 people dead. As the war raged on, the Hell's Angels absorbed smaller bike gangs like Para Dice Riders, Satan's Choice and Last Chance where just a few. When the war ended Hells had won and now Toronto, Ontario has the highest concentration of Hell's Angels members in the world.
The Red Devils
The Red Devils motorcycle gang which is not as well known in Canada as the Hells Angels. The remaining club members reside in Hamilton, Chatham and Haldimand, Ontario. The Red Devils is Canada's oldest motorcycle club but don't seem to be as violent as the others. This group just seems to like to keep to themselves and party as hard as possible. Don't get me wrong I imagine they are no angels when it comes to life!
Bandidos
Bandidos is another internationally-known violent bike gang that is considered the second most powerful in the world. The original gang was formed by Don Chambers in 1966 and is now estimated to have over 3,000 members worldwide. The Bandidos was one of the only groups in Canada that was swallowed by the Hell's Angels. During the biker wars between the Hell's Angels and the Rock Machines, the Bandidos kept to themselves. On April 8, 2006 four vehicles containing eight bodies of Bandidos members was found near Toronto, Ontario. It is said that massacre basically wiped the Bandidos presences out in Ontario.
Loners
It is said that Loners motorcycle club or gang was founded in Ontario in 1979. When the biker wars of the 90's where going on, the leader of the Hell's Angels approached the head of the Loners to see if they wanted to merge with them. Loners decline, and in 1999 after failed assassination attempt against the leader of the Ontario chapter of the Loners, the group moved pretty much out of Ontario. Loners still has members worldwide but they on the bottom of the totem pole here in Canada.
Rock Machine
The Rock Machine is probably next to the Hells Angels Canada's most deadly bike gang. They are known rivals of the Angels and after the biker wars where over, the both gangs had caused millions in damages, hurt hundreds of innocent people and left over 150 various club members dead. People like to believe the Rock Machine is now gone in Ontario but they are sadly wrong. They have supporters and they update their website regularly.
You may be interested in watching some of the TV shows about these gangs. The amount of violence they are involved in amazes me. The fact that they get away with it most of the time is another strange thing.
