China
By far, the greatest number executions is-in China. Amnesty International has confirmed that at least 470 executions were held there during 2007. This worsen by rumors that said that the true figure has actually been estimated at up to 6,000.
Iran
Iran is currently at No.2 with at least 317 people were executed in 2007. Since 1990, Iran actually performed death penalty even to juveniles.
Saudi Arabia
At No. 3 is Saudi Arabia, the leading oil producing country with at least 143 people punished by death penalty. Saudi Arabia is actually considered as a country with the lowest crime rates in the world. For example, murder per kapita in Saudi Arabia is 0.003 per 100 people ranking 61th from 62 countries.
Pakistan
At 4th is Pakistan, 135 numbers of executions, not far behind the Saudi Arabia. With it political situation and all, it is not hard to expect this figure.
United State
At the bottom of the list is US with a total of 42 executions. This is far behind Pakistan but yet considered a large figure when comparing to other countries all around the world
To add, at least 3,000 people were sentenced to death during 2007, and at the end of the year around 25,000 were on death row around the world. Pakistan and the USA are said to be accounting for about half of this figure between them. Think before committing a crime!
