Society is so quick to point the fingers at someone who may have committed a white-collar crime. They fail to take the time to understand why one may have committed their crime. Some may argue that there is no excuse. I beg the different. Let us set up a scenario. Say you were a well-educated person of an opposing color. Let us say that every job you have held, you were very successful, yet, you found yourself terminated from your job for unknown reasons. You have two children to care for, and refuse to live in the streets. You have applied at hundreds of jobs, but the illegal immigrants have taken them all, even the fast food joints. Your bills are steady piling in, and your children are almost starving, because you cannot afford to buy any food. In this situation, what would you do? This is when white-collar crime comes into effect.
Many people know it is wrong, but have taken measures for survival. They cannot get help from the government, and even if they could, the government gives limited help and takes their time giving the help. I am almost sure that the government thinks only of themselves, as they are all well secure with the tax dollars we as citizens have paid out to support them and their families. Should we as the people hold white-collar criminals accountable for an act of survival? On another side, should we hold the Senators, the Mayors, and the House of Representatives responsible? They are the ones who are supposed to be representing us as a whole, yet the whole has become more divided. The help seems to be going to the non-citizens of our country, or the wealthy. While the middle class, and the poor are stuck with the leftover. Soon, there will be no middle class, only the wealthy, or the poor. This would lead to more unlawful acts and fuller jails.
