The ongoing worries about terrorism have led me to think a lot about the situation the world is in right now. Then one day whilst I was thinking I suddenly started thinking about pirates and realised, pirates are basically the same as terrorists but … so many people like the idea of a pirate. Pirates would kill brutally kill people and make people miserable as do terrorists, except the pirates didn't have the technology we do now.
So I thought about this for a while and came up with some stuff. One of these thoughts I came up with was the fact that pirates are so glorified in the world nowadays, especially with the introduction of the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. With the entire glorification these pirates are given such as their freedom and wit, it's easy to love them and what they stand for. However if terrorists were to suddenly be glorified would we all suddenly love what they stand for and what they've done in the past? I don't think so. I think that if terrorism was even attempted to be glorified we would all be infuriated at the person that tried. Of course, if a movie about a terrorist does hit the big screens and is successful, you can all be angry at me!
Another point I came up with was the fact that there are still pirates in the world. In Asia (the Indian Ocean) there are still pirates at large, praying on unsuspecting vessels and looting them. But these pirates are hated by the people of Asia and maybe even others around the world, so it makes not sense to love the older pirates. They were even worse than the modern day ones after all! I'm sure that if a small Asian boat happens to come across your ship and attacks you, you're not likely to stop them to tell them you love them how they are.
So this was just a small report on my thoughts about the link between terrorists and pirates. A lot of you probably won't agree with this, but if you think hard about it you will see the connection. Pirates used their cannons, terrorists use their bombs, pirates killed and pillaged, terrorists brutally kill their very similar in a lot of way. I for one love pirates, so it's probably hitting you now that I'm making no sense writing this, but it's just a thought I had. Feel free to tell me your views.
