Respect My Authority: Eight Most Useful Defensive Weapons

In today's world, mugging and robbing is not an uncommon occurrence. However, you can learn the best methods and tools to eliminate these dreadful possibilities right here. Find the best weapons and ways to defend yourself in a time of threat.

  1. Pepper Spray

Pepper Spray is a great way to ward of an attacker in a threatening situation. Pepper spray works by spraying a stream of liquid or foam at or near the attackers face. The pepper spray gets inside the invaders eyes mouth and nose causing coughing, choking, burning, and temporary blindness.

The point of the spray is to give you enough time to run away or get help. Pepper spray does its job very well. The pictures above are two different kinds of pepper sprays. The little colored tubes are pepper spray designed as lipstick and are perfect for women to keep in their purse or pocket. The larger bottle is a foam pepper spray that has both a long range shot and a very powerful sting.
  2. Mace Pepper Gun

The pepper gun is also a very useful defensive weapon. Similar to pepper spray the pepper gun disables the aggressors' sight and senses allowing you to escape unharmed. The pepper gun allows for a more accurate shot and has a range up to 25 feet. The gun allows for over 20 shots or burst of spray and is very simple and easy to use. It is a great weapon to keep with you at all times. The gun above is a picture of a mace pepper gun and as you can see it looks pretty intimidating.
  3. Stun Gun

Tasers or Stun Guns are also very good defensive mechanisms. Stun Guns work by pumping over 100,000 volts of electricity into an attacker's body causing their body to go limp and giving the victim time to run away. Stun guns usually work but in some cases the attackers don't seem to be affected by the shock. In these cases the shocks seem to make the attacker even more angry causing a very dangerous situation. Also stun guns can only be used in very close range making it harder to use effectively. The image above is a picture of a low powered stun gun that would be great to keep in a car or in a pocket.
  4. Advanced Taser Gun

An Advanced Taser Gun, like the one seen in the picture above, is basically a better form of a stun gun. First of all an advanced taser gun can be shot at the attacker and has the range of over 15 ft making it much safer and more deadly then a stun gun. Also the taser guns are more powerful and can deliver between 18 to 26 watts of electric shock which would bring any human being to their knees. You may be wondering how the advanced taser gun works. Basically you aim at the target with a built in laser sight and fire. After firing an air cartridge causes two wires to shoot out the gun and latch into the targets skin giving them a powerful and painful electric shock. After the wires are into their skin you can keep delivering an electric shock each time you pull the trigger. Police men often carry advanced taser guns which are very useful when someone does not comply or tries to run.
  5. Brass Knuckles

Brass knuckles, like the one shown above, are a great defensive weapon. They are very easy to conceal and hurt real bad if you get punched with one. They can be put on a belt buckle, kept on a key chain, kept in your pocket, or worn on a necklace. There are many different kinds of knuckles ranging from plastic ones kept on car keys to mettle spiked ones designed for maximum damage. Either way brass knuckles are a deadly defensive weapon which can save your life from an unexpected attacker.
  6. Netgun

A net gun, like the one shown above, is also a very useful weapon. Net guns can be used in many different situations. They could be used to capture an attacker running away from the scene, stop an attacker from running at you, or to even capture a dangerous animal in or around your house.

Net guns shoot a large net at its target that then gets tangled up inside of it causing them to become immobile. It is a very useful weapon which is also very fun and cool.
  7. Riot Control Gun

The big beast in the picture above is a riot control gun which is a great defensive weapon. This weapon would never be used by citizens but rather the police force to break up riots. This weapon can be filled with tear gas, bean bags, and mace all useful in bringing a target down. In the past these babies have been very successful in stopping riots and other out of control celebrations.
  8. Defensive Arts

Defensive Arts train people how to protect themselves in a time of need. Often taken by women these classes teach them how to take down an attacker with special moves and painful blows. So far these classes have been very successful and are now popping up all over the world. These programs are great and possibly saving people's lives all over the world today. The image above shows a woman delivering a painful blow into an attacker's groin. Ouch that's got to hurt!

Remind me not to hang out in the places you do.

The only weapons I recommend are pepper sprays, stun guns, and brass knuckles ONLY if you have enough strength to use one properly. I don't think you will have enough time to pull a freakin' net gun out while you are getting robbed/mugged.

The real question here is 9 vs 40.

Brass knuckles are worthless, and are you kidding me w/ that netgun? Also, where is a gun or knife in this? This is a really dumb article.

The problem with most of these is you would have to stay in melee range of your attacker. I prefer to carry a .40 cal sub compact handgun. Best to use when you push your attacker off with one arm and then draw with the other. The best defense is to keep alert and to not put yourself in dangerous situations.
