Should Juveniles be Tried as Adults?

Should juveniles should be tried as adults if committing a crime?

Many juveniles commit far more serious crimes than adults, and they just get away with a warning. Most laws state that depending on the seriousness of the situation, juveniles can be tried as adults. In the past juveniles committed many small crimes and misdemeanors, but today the number of felonies they commit highly surpass those of recent years. Depending on the seriousness of the felony and how many people are affected, juveniles should be tried as adults.

In today's world, a juvenile who commits a crime, is strongly beaten on by society, so he can be convicted no matter what the extent of the crime is. They do not realize that teens are kids, and most were raised by unfit parents. People think that even if the crime they committed did not affect anyone, these juveniles should be punished to the full extent of the law.

Although many oppose trying juveniles as children, people will fight for them so they will not necessarily be tried as adults, depending on the seriousness of the crime they have committed. Instead of focusing on the small crimes juveniles commit, people should look at how many juveniles were killed by gun violence and gang violence at Chicago Public Schools last year. Those are the juveniles that need to be tried as adults for murder, not those who steal a bag of candy or a pair of shoes.

Juveniles at a young age need to be treated for the crimes they commit instead of being imprisoned in jail with other adults because they can easily influenced to commit more crimes and even more serious felonies. More than 60 percent of teenagers who commit crimes are poorly raised by their parents who would highly influence on the juveniles' actions.

Prior evidence shows that it should depend on the severity of the crime committed. Although society looks to punish them by viewing their actions, others look at their background and social life to see what would influence them to ignore the law; so if they have a second chance, they would not waste it.
