Why Did Lydia Funez-James Die?

The death of my niece Lydia Funez-James.

An unlawful murder took place on December 22, 2006, San Bernardino California.

I was always told to respect our fine law enforcement, and if there was a problem to call so they would be able to solve or mediate the situation. Never in my wildest dream could I imagine that the men who took an oath to protect and serve would be in involved in my worse nightmare of my life. My heart was filled with grief, in the pit of my stomach wishing that I could disappear inside of my self. I am the aunt and I have no children. On October 1, 1984 a baby girl was born. I have many nieces and nephew, but this one was my baby. I loved Li Lydia she was the most beautiful little girl I had set my eye on.

Her mother was my half sister I was raised by my great grand parents, so I had no sibling that lived in the same household. Lil Lydia had big eyes curly hair she smiled a special smile when auntie went over to see her and picked her up. Lil Lydia turned two I made a Christmas out of this world for her I must haver spent over 2,000.00 on just her my baby. This was my special girl. Now to bring you up to date her mother had lived with myself, my husband and my mother for a time period we where the baby sitter for Lil Lydia and Greg her baby brother. We never charged or mined any time no question asked. I lived in San Bernardino where I had purchased a home across the street from my mother to take care of her and to see my babies.

In 1999 I moved to Arizona, my family fell apart with out the head not being the back bone of there rescue. I needed this break everyone using my household as there personal hotel, mission, and a consent drop off of there children. I had experienced a major death my aunt had died from stomach cancer. I needed a geographical healing I needed some Dana time alone to grieve, and only being responsible for my family and my mother. Now we are in 2006 I spoke to Lil Lydia on Thanksgiving telling her Lil Lydia come and live with myself and your uncle in Arizona you can bring your girlfriend and her baby. You don't need any money auntie love you I don't care that your gay, Lil Lydia please come to me I Love you, she replied I love you I will think about it. That was the last time I spoke to her. Now it is December 22, 2006 at 7:00p.m I get a call from my mother Dana I got a call saying Lil Lydia had been shot, I got hysterical no mama no please god no not my baby no! No!

Call her on her cell phone mother let see if this is true. There was no answer so we called Big Lydia she picked the phone up she said" I see her car but she's int in it. So I said" Lydia look in the crowed see If you see a black officer she replied no I then told her to find me a Sergent she did she gave him her cell phone he got on the phone I asked him do you see a young girl she is the owner of the car that has been shot up on the passenger side" he replied no we have two men. So I replied you think you have two men but one is a female with long curly hair he then told me I have to go now I'm sorry. I hang up the phone I paused I said " god please don't let it be Lil Lydia but at this time I feel it in my soul oh god they killed my baby.

So I called Big Lydia her mother back and said" Lydia are you sure that Lil Lydia she replied I know my child I am upstairs in the manager's apartment looking down on her right now and she is on the ground with her hands cuffed behind her back she isn't moving, Dana those are her slipper, her black coat, and she has her scarf on her head. My world fell apart oh god I can't believe this is going on put your hand around me and hold me oh no!!! I cried I cried no not my baby. Well she asked the corner was the body he was loading in the car was it a female he replied yes Lydia asked him did she have a pair of dice and the words grand mama tattooed on her arm he replied yes that was our confirmation that Lil Lydia had been killed by the police. Now lets go back this is what was told. Lil Lydia had received a call from a guy asking her to give him a ride. Early that night 2 officer had been shot in Los Angeles, and one in Long Beach The officer where tensed and they where called gang buster and it didn't make a difference on what people that they stopped they had already had a profile, the two where profiled as two black men not knowing that the driver was a female. Well there was a traffic stop Lil Lydia had stopped the office said then some how the 28 year old guy who was a felony he fire several shots at the police officer so Lil Lydia took off driving as thou she was very very scared.

It was a 8 minute chase. The officer hit the back of the car sending into a apartment complex where Lil Lydia was well known. By stander said they heard little pops then it sound as the end of the world had arrived. Lil Lydia told the passenger to get out with his hand up and he started to shot he was shot 6 times and he didn't die. My niece LYDIA LYNN FUNEZ-JAMES who was gunned down and killed by San Bernardino Police Department in the State of California, She was Shoot 16 times of which 4 bullet hit her in the head, and over 200 bullet on the passenger side of her car. These type of deaths are occurring all over the world, she was only 22 years old she was a innocent victim.
