The youth in the society today want to lead affluent live and they all want it for nothing they want to drink, smoke and take drugs. But all this comes at a price they are not cheap items to get a hold of, even though they are readily available to people if you ask around for less than five minutes. So as all of these youths want something for nothing they need to resort to crime to get them money to pay for their needs. These crimes can usually include: theft, petty theft, burglary and shoplifting.
The two article will be criticizing because they are both each others main opposition therefore we cant not just rely on just one of the articles, we will need to take parts from both articles and make our own conclusion. Article one is by conservatives so they are saying that labor is not even trying to tackle youth crime, and not just simple that they are trying but being unsuccessful it uses surveys done in schools where there have been problems with crime. Whereas on the other hand. Article two is a list by labor that shows the main problems that are around youth crime and a few things that they have done to tackle them.
In the conservatives article they say that labor aren't fighting youth crime like they should be but the labor are saying they are doing something and it is working. The conservatives evidence to show there right about labor are the two surveys they have done ins 192 schools but how do we know it was done fairly, for instance they asked grammar schools and private schools and not just non-selective secondary schools. All of which are in today's youth. The labor party's evidence is the fact that they have been in office for over 10years and that show that they must be doing something right, otherwise more people would have voted for conservative and they would no longer be in office. I think that even though labor is fighting youth crime it is still on the increase and that the surveys done we not entirely all correct and conservatives had pushed up a few numbers so as to make it look like labor were doing less than they really were.
There are no bias comments in article two in any way as it is only the labor party's policies on youth crime and how they tackled them. But in article one there are plenty of comments made by the conservatives against the labor party. One comment is that the youth crime is rising to worrying levels, after repeated labor promises to take on the situation at hand. There is also a lot of hidden bias comments where labor says it's tackling the problem then the next thing you read will be another statistic about the amount of youths drinking for instance.
I think that youth crime is a problem that's trying to be dealt with it is still getting worse because the drugs and cigarettes and drink that are used are becoming more and more readily available, And that there are shop and pubs that will sell these items to underage kids. It doesn't help that people are trying to get people off the streets they are not trying to get the problem off the street and that is drugs, I also don't think that the police are convicting enough young criminals and that as they let them go it is show a sign that it doesn't matter even if you get caught you'll get off anyway.
I disagree with the Rt. Hon. Davies MP because I know a lot of people and even though I do know many who have done criminal activities before an awful lot more of my friends are completely clean. If the ratio were done for the alcohol drinkers I would admit that nearly all my friends drink a little alcohol when they are at home with their dads or at parties but not binge drinking in the streets and pubs like the survey means. But the rest of the questions one out of fifteen of my friends would answer yes to but the rest would say no.
Youth crime is a very major problem that need to be dealt with when the offender is young otherwise they will grow up thinking what they do is ok and acceptable in today's society. These youths who commit crime also hang around street corners a lot making the local residence very uneasy. For instance my mum went to Blendon to buy some chips but when she pulled up a gang of kids surrounded her car and she had to drive off before they did anything, she was even to scare to get out the car and get the chips. The elderly are also a prime target for youths because they are weak. E.g. my Nan went shopping on her way home she was followed by a know drug user when she arrived home, she was mugged on her drive this has greatly affected her she now need to take medicine because she has panic attacks. They were the ones who made our country the great world importance it is today they don't want it spoiled by some youths thinking they are cool.
There are a few thing I would like to see in place curfews are one of them for instance kids under 16 need to be home by 10pm on a weeknight and 11:30pm at weekends. I also know for a fact there is a growing disrespect for the law and police in today's youth even from people who have ever committed a crime in their life seam to have disrespect for the law. Parents need to play a bigger role in theirs child's upbringing because one day the child could commit a crime that could effect the whole families life and I don't mean emotionally all crime do that but the family could lose their house for instance.
