Losing Loved Ones

The stages of losing loved ones, and dealing with them.

As many of you may well know, losing a loved one is a very discomforting situation. As we lose a loved one, Grief and depression consumes us. When someone is taken from our lives, more than one person experiences grief. As you can understand citizens in order to accept a lost/forsaken one grieve and go into depression..

Many health doctors believe that if you do not grieve at the death of your lost one or very shortly after your grief will fill up inside of you, which will lead to physical and mental illness later on in life. Although we wish we could control these situations there is no way we can, they are beyond our control.

Although grieving is normal there are many stages of grieving.

  1. The most common stage of losing a loved one would be to feel emotionally weak. There is no real way to know how low this stage will last due to how close your loved one was to you who died.

Weak emotions have a very strong feeling for the person who has passed away. Ex. If your phone rings or your on the bus or in a crowd, you may think that person is calling you or you may see him/her on the bus or in crowds.

  2. The second stage of grieve, you would will find it difficult to concentrate, sleep, and or relax. Feeling guilty is not unusually. Ex . Talking to a loved one you wish you expressed your emotions to but didn't.

Preteens and teens have conflicting and complex emotions about the death of a person they have known. Although this stage carries on intense depression, silence and withdrawal, you may be sudden to outburst in tears you may also have memories about that passed away loved one.

Over time, the pain, sadness and depression start to lessen. You begin to see your life in a more positive light again. Although it's important to acknowledge there may always be a feeling of loss, you learn to live with it.

  3. The final phase of grieving is to let go of the person who has died and carry on with your life, though it may not be exactly the same as it was before. Your sleeping patterns and energy levels return to normal.

We may not understand why these kind of event happen, we ask ourselves Why was it not me? Why them? We may not understand the reasons behind it but we have to learn to deal with it. You didn't learn to walk/ride a bike without falling did you? So you can't learn to cope on with something difficult without falling.

As a conclusion, we never really learn to work out pain, but we live through it. So allowing yourself into these stages is quite normal. (Two quotes below)

Many Thanks
God Bless

"Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy."

- Eskimo legend

Losing A Loved One
by: Shirley H. Brunson

Although your heart is hurting,
And you feel you can't go on
Know in that very moment
Your loved one wasn't alone

For God was there beside them
Holding onto their hand
As the time drew nearer
For them to leave this land

He held them close and whispered
"My child, your time is now"
"But how will my loved ones go on?"
He whispered, "I will show them how"

"I will give them strength and love
And comfort in the night,
I will fill their hearts with peace
Knowing you had wings as you took flight

You no longer walk amongst them
For now you fly above
With all my Heavenly angels
Spreading everlasting and eternal love"
