Going Out With a Bang

Bush appears to still be doing his job.

$145 million

On January 18, George W. Bush made a speech about our declining economy. First off, let me say that it is good to see him still doing his presidential duty when he knows his time is almost up. Bush's idea is simple, but I think a little expensive. The plan is to give the people more money to spend. By doing so, that's $145 billion dollars going out to American citizens. Sounds good right?

Downturn

Even with all this excitement going on he acknowledges the fact that there may be a flaw in the plan. It's a good thing that he mentions that because I think that the next president will be pretty steamed when they realize that they have to clean up some mess that bush left behind. (Beside the war that is.)

Super congress

In a surprise turn of events, congress has come up with some other ideas as well.

They have it in mind to increase unemployment benefits and increase food stamps. Its good to know that they REALLY don't want to go into recession… it does my heart good.
