Japan's Rising Sun: Economy and Politics

Despite the small population in Japan, this country managed to be one of the largest economies in the world.

From 1990 to 1998, my mom had traveled the heart of Japan- worked as a singer in some parts of Chiba- Ken, and shortly formulated a wise comparison between Philippines and Japan.

Why not? Japan's industrialized, free market economy is the world's biggest adjusted to Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) after US and China by real GDP and market exchange rates. Come to think of it, Japan a survivor of the World War II, still remains undefeated. I was then influenced by my mom's mind set that time and until now.

I was suspiciously amazed of Japan's economic stability finding out that its well-educated and industrious work force, high savings and investment rates, intensive promotions of industrial development and foreign trades, mastery of high technology, and reservoir of industrial leadership and technicians made me think of it as an ideal place to live in. There in Japan, even a teenager like me can work and earn a reputable high salary and learning as well. Among the choices includes robotics and electronic works. The cost of living there is expensive, but one can afford it when he work two or three times a day there and feel the benefits of yen outside the country.

Consequently, government condition in Japan makes it a safe sanctuary to dwell in. With its framework of parliamentary representative democratic monarchy system, citizens there are living a disciplined lifestyle which leads to political behavior and good relationship among the government, manufacturers, banks, suppliers, distributors, and ordinary people.

As I browse the internet, I salute in my mind how the peace measures in Japan protect its citizens. Currently its constitution is prohibiting the use of military forces to wage war against other countries. The parliamentary in Japan, however has a controlling power against those who will rebel against the government. That is why there is no room for fear to those who have trauma in people rally.

As Japan's stable economy and political standing collides, lot of positive results are branching out. One of the evidences is the Tokyo Stock Exchange which is the second largest in the world with a market capitalization of more than $ 4 trillion. Japan's service sector accounts for about three-fourths of its total economic output. Banking, insurance, real estate, retailing, transportation, and telecommunications are all major industries such as Mitsubishi UFJ, Mizuho, NTT, and Tokyo Marine counting as one of the largest companies in the world. Also when it comes to agriculture, Japan has its system of terraces making it one of the world's highest levels of crop yields per unit area, with an overall agricultural self-sufficiency rate about 50% on fewer than 14 million acres cultivated, despite of its small percentage of fertile soil.

Where else can I find a wealthy country like Japan, having a labor force of 67 million workers, 40% of whom are women? It is all because of the harmonious and uncorrupted political management of the government. Their advanced educational training in students accounts for the outcome of productive and reliable citizens in the future. The right budget allocation for each department gives way to sufficient supplies of needs for the people.

Now if I will be given a chance to migrate in other countries where I can be assured of my future, then it would be Japan- the land of the rising sun
