Why should government tax minors?
You're going to work, and then you remember that today is payday! You're very excited because you just worked a very long and tiring week. At the end of the work day you pick up your check. You just made over 100 dollars. Then you say,” Hey! That can't be right!” Because you calculated about how much money you should have made, and this was about 20-40 dollars less. Eventually you look at the bottom part of the check. The government had taken out a huge hunk of you pay. You're furious with them. It's taxation without representation, something we actually fought for during the Revolutionary War.
Since you cannot vote, you cannot drink or smoke, legally, and you are not considered an adult until you are the age of 18. You're really not a "full" citizen until you turn 18. So, why are they taking your hard-earned cash? The reason they probably will give is: “Our Economy is really bad and we need your money to survive.” The main reason is the Government is greedy. They want to spend the money on projects, or so that government officials can take a vacation on the tax payer's money. All expenses paid for them, that is your two hours of work the government takes. So, technically you're working for free for an hour or two each week at work. Still, they won't let you vote.
If they did let you vote though. Another problem would arise: What would happen to the people not working? Would they still get to vote? Or, how would the Government keep track of all of the minors working? The answer to the third question is difficult, and does not really need an answer. As for the first and second question the answer is simple, yes. They are an adult when they turn 18 and can enjoy being a "full" citizen. The fact of the matter is; if you work you should be allowed to vote because the government is taxing you and you cannot represent them. Isn't that what we fought for during the Revolutionary War?
