Avoiding plagiarism in term paper

Plagiarism is a worst sin in writing academic paper. Plagiarism can be avoided by producing the referred text in own creative way and using proper citation and references for quotes, graphs or charts.

Plagiarism is an issue of pressing current concern, for it seems to be increasing in Higher Education in those western countries in which research has been done. The incidence of plagiarism in British Higher Education has been part of this general trend, but it has taken place at a time of considerable change in the university system generally notably a move from an elite to a mass system (Peter Ashworth, Madeleine Freewood, Ranald Macdonald, Page no.-1). plagiarism as "the deliberate or reckless representation of another's words, thoughts, or ideas as one's own without attribution in connection with submission of academic work, whether graded or otherwise." (Instrument of Student Judicial Governance, Section II.B.1).

In all educational institutes, paper affected by plagiarism frustrates professors and by law it’s a serious offence in academic writing. The Compact Edition of the Oxford English Dictionary (COED) says that plagiarism is the action or practice of plagiarizing; the wrongful appropriation or purloining, and publication as one's own, of the ideas, or the expression of ideas (literary, artistic, musical, mechanical, etc.) of another.

Plagiarism may be intentional or unintentional. Intentional plagiarism is academic dishonesty and is a serious offence. Unintentional plagiarism is still plagiarism, even though it should not be considered academic dishonesty.

Students can avoid plagiarism by crediting the author name and publishing year while writing paper. They can quote another person’s actual spoken or written words; or paraphrase of another person’s spoken or written words. For using any statement, tables, graphs, and statistical data from any source, it must be properly referenced.

It is primary responsibility of students to write research paper free from plagiarism. They must create text, which are properly using Footnotes, Endnotes, or Parenthetical References, and must write a Bibliography, References, or Works Cited page.

One has to be very cautious while writing professional papers because plagiarized work is easily recognized.
